ATTICA — Gathered with family and friends at Hotel Attica, Sharon Negele announced her candidacy for state representative. Negele is a small business owner, Attica Clerk-Treasurer and mother of two.

Negele’s focus will be helping communities throughout district 42 fight high unemployment numbers, skyrocketing foreclosure rates and crumbling infrastructure. In her remarks, Negele was clear on her positions.

ANDERSON — Today, small business owner Kim Builta announced her intention to become the next State Representative for Indiana House District 36. As part of her campaign kick-off, Builta launched an announcement tour with stops in Anderson, Alexandria, Arcadia, Atlanta, Elwood and Frankton.

"There are many important issues, but our top priority must be creating jobs and supporting a job friendly environment," affirmed Builta. "To me, job creation is a reality - not a political slogan. As a small business owner, I have run a business and created jobs in both good times and bad."

EVANSVILLE – Former Vanderburgh County Commissioner and former Indiana Department of Local Government Finance Commissioner Cheryl Musgrave formally announced her candidacy on Wednesday for the District 77 seat of the Indiana House of Representatives.

Speaking to a group of friends, family and supporters in Goosetown Park--a park she helped expand as a Neighborhood Association President--Musgrave said state government must be focused on three key issues: "good jobs, fair taxation and great education."

EVANSVILLE – A large group of friends and family were on hand today at Washington Square Mall to hear Warrick County Coroner Ron Bacon announce his candidacy for the District 75 State Representative seat.

Bacon, a lifelong resident of the Evansville area, is the owner of a family business that serves Evansville residents with home healthcare supplies. He has also served four years as an elected member of the Warrick County Council and is in his second term as Warrick County Coroner.

Monday, September 21, 2009 Sue Ellspermann announced her candidacy to serve Southwestern Indiana as State Representative District 74. Taking part in the introductions and announcement were State Treasurer Richard Mourdock, former State Auditor Connie Nass, and State Representative Mark Messmer.

McNamara, a Mount Vernon resident, is director of Early College High School for the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation and an adjunct instructor at the University of Southern Indiana.

“My leadership will not be asking for your vote based on party or platform, but on the issues directly affecting Indiana,” McNamara said in announcing her candidacy at the Posey County Courthouse in Mount Vernon, Ind. She will also announce her candidacy at the Howell Wetlands at 4 p.m..

Pendleton, IN – Kyle Hupfer of Pendleton, Indiana, filed paperwork today with the Madison County Election Board and the Indiana Secretary of State’s office to be a candidate in House District 37. Hupfer stated he was “excited, and energized by the amount of support already pouring in from friends all over the district.”

Hupfer previously served as the Director of the Department of Natural Resources, is the current Chairman of the State Fair Commission, and has been a strong partner in Mitch Daniels’ efforts to reform government. Hupfer stated, “We have got to have people committed to leading the effort to move Indiana forward serving in the Legislature. Pendleton and Madison County have given me every opportunity that any person could ask for, and through my leadership in the Legislature I hope to give something back to my community and state.”

The budget that passed on Tuesday evening was a far cry from the taxpayer nightmare that House Democrats unanimously sent to the Senate just a few short weeks ago. The House Democrats aim was to squander all of Indiana’s reserves, with hundreds of millions of dollars in new spending not accounted for by equal spending cuts and the use of one-time federal stimulus dollars for ongoing state expenses. In short, the Democrat budget would have lead to a massive tax hike for Hoosier families. Until late last week, House Speaker Pat Bauer and his leadership team seemed steadfast in their support for their original language, and taxpayers and news outlets alike let their frustrations be known. As an Indianapolis Star editorial implored last week:

Last Tuesday, the Indiana House of Representatives was presented with a responsible, compromise budget that would have protected Hoosier taxpayers and kept our state from the brink of a shutdown on June 30. Unfortunately, it was rejected by Democrat leaders, who are resorting to their old habit of holding taxpayers hostage for more spending.
