Indiana House Minority Leader Brian Bosma is counting on Dan Klein to put Republicans back in the driver's seat downstate.
Bosma helped kick of Klein's campaign Tuesday for the 19th District House seat held by Democrat Shelli VanDenburgh, Crown Point.Bosma told more than 100 supporters at the Conservative Cafe that it was important to send Klein to the Indiana House.
This week the Swing State Project (www.swingstateproject.com) covered another story about the country’s state legislative chambers. The article focused on the likelihood for state chambers to change party control. The first chamber listed, with the most favorable potential to change hands, was the Indiana State House of Representatives and was listed as “Lean Republican takeover.”
Crown Point, IN – Dan Klein, former mayor of Crown Point and Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana, filed paperwork this morning to declare his candidacy for State Representative in House District 19.

HARTFORD CITY, Ind. and MARION, Ind.--Former Blackford County Sheriff Kevin Mahan announced his candidacy for State Representative in District 31 on Wednesday at stops in both Blackford and Grant counties.
Speaking to a crowd of supporters at CrownPointe Communities in Hartford City, and later at the Mill Restaurant in Marion, Mahan explained the need for more fiscal responsibility and stronger leadership in the General Assembly as his motivation for running.
INDIANAPOLIS (December 17,2009)--Open government advocate Kurt Webber formally announced his candidacy on Thursday for state representative in House District 86.
Speaking in the rotunda of the state house--near the courtrooms where he has advocated cases for greater transparency in government--Webber said house members must speak for the silent majority of taxpayers that want their government to live within its means, allowing citizens to prosper through their own responsible choices.
Bloomfield, IN – Matt Ubelhor, a lifelong Hoosier and Southern Indiana resident has decided to announce his candidacy for the legislature today. Ubelhor referenced government growth and the lack of fiscal responsibility in Indianapolis as reasons for making his decision to run.
“People out here are losing jobs and watching their income shrink, yet we don’t see our government getting any smaller or making the tough decisions to save the taxpayers. We cannot sustain ourselves on this course of reckless spending.” Ubelhor cited the legislature’s efforts to spend the state’s budget reserves last year as only a part of the problem, “Government spending at every level is out of control; it’s time for new, truly conservative leadership.”
