Rhonda was born and raised in Harrison County, and she understands the issues important to House District 70. Rhoads graduated from North Harrison High School in 1968, and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Indiana State University and her Master’s Degree from Indiana University. Rhonda retired from teaching after 29 years of service to the North Harrison Community School Corporation. During her time with North Harrison Community Schools, Rhonda developed and coached the first competitive soccer team at North Harrison High School, coached with the Harrison County Youth Soccer program for 13 years.
Rhonda was overwhelmingly elected to the Harrison County Council in 2000. The voters of Harrison County showed their faith in Rhonda by re-electing her for a second County Council term in 2004, where she served as the vice-chair of the group. During her time on the County Council Rhonda earned a reputation for as an advocate for limited government, fiscal restraint, and not raising taxes. As a gun owner, Rhonda Rhoads believes in protecting our 2nd Amendment rights.
Rhonda and her husband Les are active members of Old Capitol United Methodist Church. Rhonda is also a member of the Harrison County Farm Bureau, Women of the Moose Corydon Chapter, and served as the Treasurer of the Harrison County Republican Party.
